What to Write and Where to Write it???

Hi  :  )

As I have already mentioned, I am a member of Hub Pages and joined that site so that I could actually get writing!

And it has worked. I do write now ~ quite regularly. Having a site to write for has made me more focused, which is just what I needed.

The thing is, I always wanted to write a book and to get into print, but, nowadays, 'cyber books' seems to be the way forward.

Should I stick to my online articles, or should I write a book and try to get it published as an e-book?
I don't really have time to do both.

And, if I do decide to write a book, should it be factual or fiction?
Such a dilemma!

I hope to find a romance novel that I wrote 21 years ago and see if that will work as an e-book. I originally submitted it to Mills and Boon, but it wasn't quite their sort of thing.

Also whilst studying for my History degree, I went on a field visit to the enigmatic Rushton Triangular Lodge and Lyveden New Bield, in Northamptonshire. They are fascinating buildings, based on religious belief ~ and very much a part of the politics and secrecy of an age ~ Tudor and Stuart times ~ when religion was a matter of life and death. It spawned 'The Gunpowder Plot'.

Place Names of the USA

While I was at University, I discovered the study of place-names ~ and how much they can teach about local history. My teacher was a true  expert ~ Margaret Gelling!

Marian Apparitions and Visions of other Saints

Hi :)

I've long had a soft spot for Spain, and I am very interested in certain aspects of theology, so, when it was time for my History Dissertation, at University, it was suggested that I should examine a set of apparitions that had been gathered by W A Christian junior. These were from different parts of Spain, and dated from the Medieval and Early Modern periods.

Christian had translated them, written commentaries, and published them ~ side by side with the old Spanish original texts.

They were absolutely fascinating ~ a real journey back in time. One could feel what those peasants felt and see what they saw. Certainly many of their stories sounded genuine, whilst also sounding unbelievable!

I wrote my conclusions on this subject way back in 1984/85, but I recently reviwed my work ~ and posted it all on Hub Pages. Each chapter makes up a different article. I have also added some background and some new ideas.

Furthermore, I realised that we would be holidaying near one of the shrines described ~ at Jafre ~ so my husband and I went to explore ~ and I also wrote about that!

Shakespeare

It's lovely and warm today, so perhaps I should be outside, rather than indoors ~ writing.

However, I feel that I should make a blogger's note that my articles on Hub Pages concern subjects other than evolution; I have written a number of 'hubs' about Shakespeare and his work.

I enjoy Shakespeare; I like Stratford Upon Avon; I am fascinated by Tudor and Stuart history.

There is plenty to write about!

Like most people, I began my studies at school ~ which, for me, was back in the 60's and 70's ~ and continued them at University (reading History) ~ which, for me, was in the 1980s.

But, a couple of years ago, I resumed my studies, when I decided to study A'Level English ~ for fun!

It was back to Shakespeare ~ plus other authors, of course.

We read 'The Tempest' and 'Hamlet' ~ and I was lucky enough to see both on stage at Stratford upon Avon. They were brilliant. David Tennant makes a wonderful Hamlet!

As a consequence of my studies, I have written quite a few items on 'Hamlet'; just one on 'The Tempest' and a few other related pieces.

I have also submitted some on the history of the period.

I hope that you will wish to read some of them and that you will enjoy them.

I noticed that there were quite a few items, on Hub Pages, about Charles Darwin and Evolution ~ and, of course, creationism! I find this a fascinating subject and I also enjoy reading about genetics, which supports Darwin's theory.

I was amazed at the number of people, on that site, who not only reject evolution, but who seem to actively loathe Darwin! 

I accept evolution as true and I have been involved in a few forum and hub discussions on the subject.

At the time that I first noticed this trend, it was around the anniversary of both Darwin's birth and the publication of his 'Origin of Species', so there were quite a few documentaries about Darwin on TV. I really enjoyed them and was inspired to write a few articles on the subject ~ or 'hubs', as they are known on 'Hub Pages'.
