I've long had a soft spot for Spain, and I am very interested in certain aspects of theology, so, when it was time for my History Dissertation, at University, it was suggested that I should examine a set of apparitions that had been gathered by W A Christian junior. These were from different parts of Spain, and dated from the Medieval and Early Modern periods.
Christian had translated them, written commentaries, and published them ~ side by side with the old Spanish original texts.
They were absolutely fascinating ~ a real journey back in time. One could feel what those peasants felt and see what they saw. Certainly many of their stories sounded genuine, whilst also sounding unbelievable!
I wrote my conclusions on this subject way back in 1984/85, but I recently reviwed my work ~ and posted it all on Hub Pages. Each chapter makes up a different article. I have also added some background and some new ideas.
Furthermore, I realised that we would be holidaying near one of the shrines described ~ at Jafre ~ so my husband and I went to explore ~ and I also wrote about that!
